On this edition of Blogging Thursday we talked about the legal side of blogging with a fixture in the real estate blogging community, Joseph Ferrara from Sellsius. Also we were joined by Mary McKnight from RssPieces where she gave us all new real estate blogging tips. All this and real estate news on Real Estate Radio USA.

We started the show discussing the latest in real estate news. It seems that the Connecticut MLS just went public. This follows up on what we have been talking about for the last few shows. With all of the new real estate sites that are aggregating listings, even the MLS’s themselves now see the beginning of the end to holding that data sacred.

Our first guest on this episode was Joseph Ferrara from Sellsious Real Estate Blog. Joseph is a real estate attorney with 25 years experience in the industry. We discussed, for the most part, the legal issues facing bloggers today. With lawsuits such as the one filed in Miami, these issues should be at the forefront of your mind if you are interested in blogging of any kind. Listen to this episode to find out some ways to stay out of trouble.

A fixture of Blogging Thursdays, Mary McKnight from RSSPieces, joined us again for this show. Mary is the quintessential teacher of all things related to getting people to your blog. Every week she amazes Barry C and myself on all of the things she knows. Barry C and I have actually started trying to stump her on questions and have not even gotten close… not even once. Listen to Mary on this episode discuss the things separate a successful blogger from an unsuccessful one, backlinks, pay per click, and SEO.

In closing the show, Barry C and I announced the new set of seminar dates. We hope to see everyone out at one of these live events.

  1. Tom says:

Great show and thanks for the link and discussion.

One point of reference though, the default setting for WordPress is no spam filter running and comments are not moderated.

From running other sites that are much more controversial if you do not moderate the comments you have much more protection. Once you start moderating the comments then you have a greater responsibility to make sure the comments pass the smell test.

  2. Glad you liked it Tom,

Thanks for the further clarification about the comments. I think this is a debate that will continue for some time.
