When I decided to become a licensed realtor and practice the business full time I was asked by friends and relatives a simple question ……….
Why?
My response back than was typically the same to everyone ….” it’s the beni’s”
These days I’m being asked the same question but differently ….
“Why do you stay in the business ?” My response is typically the same..”it’s the beni’s”

The benefits that I was referring to than, and now are the same. They don’t change. I get to see opportunities before most people even know that they exist.
I get to decide if I want it first. The information that’s available to us as realtor’s would be considered criminal in most any other type of investment scenario.
I’ve always thought of it as legalized insider trading.
This extended downturn in the real estate market is actually a gift to some. It allows some people who look and wait, sometimes years for the right opportunities to surface, an overwhelming choice of opportunities. Practicing Realtors and real estate investors have something most people don’t. Better chances to take advantage of the market and an understanding that the opportunities aren’t always available.
That’s why I got into this business and that’s why I stay, and in the meantime, I’ve been able to help some people along the way.Â
Banks are now placing many of the foreclosed properties on the market. In many cases they’re being sold for 50 – 60% of the list price. Serious buyers with no contract contingenies are picking up residential REO properties as quickly as they hit the market. If lenders were difficult to deal with in short sale situations they are not in REO.
Brokers and Asset Managers are being given tremendous headway to get rid of the inventory as quickly as possible. This mentality could continue as long as they can manage or balance the flow of properties in and out. Again, it’s the beni’s.
