On the DOJ/NAR settlement, the outcome of this judgment is exactly what should have come out of this debate, investigation, or whatever you want to call it. And that is that, we live in a free enterprise system, and any attempt to prohibit free enterprise goes against everything that this country is built on, and by the way is illegal. This is why we have a $1.00 menu and low prices at the large retailers. And also why we have near $4.00 a gallon gas and $4.00 lattes. Free enterprise creates the market for competition. Some competitors choose to compete on pricing, others on luxury, and others on convenience.
This “final judgment” should be viewed as the parent telling the kids to play fairly and if you don’t, you go in “time out”. The sad part is that it took the Department of Justice to tell the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS that they need to play fair and if not, there will consequences. Which I thought, playing fair was part of our CODE OF ETHICS. um, did someone not read our Code of Ethics. I guess if you wrote the code, you don’t have to obey the code.
Mark very well put!
