I work at a freakishly productive 135 agent RE/MAX office that has a huge group of agents that have ingested the "Oh By the Way" Kool-Aid. There is hardly an email signature that doesn't have the "Oh By the Way " reminder. Those stickers you threw away get sold and traded like they are stocks. The worst part of all is many of those 40-50 agents who are in the program are easily on pace to to reach 100% Club ($100,000 GCI) and Platinum ($250,000GCI) this year in spite of market conditions. They actually team up to buy "pop-by" gifts by the gross.

Woo hoo! Funny, I have a package of those stickers in my drawer, given to me by my old business partner as a joke (she knows how much I despise the "Oh, by the way..." nonsense). I see them every once in awhile when I open that drawer and I always roll my eyes and smile...

Great post!!!

Mike,

I think your post was pretty fair. I think that it should be noted that the 100 days program is as much a tool for a broker as it is for an agent.

For example, if you owned an office and really wanted to sift through the new agents and definately shake out some of the pretenders, then 100 days is a great Brokerage tool. Definately if you can get a new agent to put some skin in the game ($400 worth), that is a good sign. If your new agents actually used the system, they will most likely get off to a better start then all the out dated training that the large brokerages still peddle to unsuspecting new agents.

I have been involved with the Buffini system for several years and I think you got basics of the referral side of the system understood. No matter what business you are in, you have to take care of your past clients and existing clients and you would be surprised how any agents do not stay in touch with past clients.

There are aspects of the system that go beyond what you can get in the 100 days program. The statistics on our own industry prove that only a small percentage ever rise toward the top. Commission sales is always like that, if it was easy to get to the top of sales then half the garbage sold to Real Estate Agents would never exist.

I thought the show today was pretty good and has inspired me to write a post for my AR blog on Coaching dovetailed with 2.0 tech.

Mike
Congrats on not drinking the Kool Aid. Its not as good as it would seem.

Though I havnt taken BB, I have taken Floyd Wickman etc. I enjoyed the classes, learned a lot, but I don't drink the kool aid. I prefer to make parody videos on them.
