It turned out that the issue was so confusing to the owner that there was no traction and the so-called advance notice did not help. It is best for all the many parties to stick by the usual processes with the usual players. He should just ask if the agent (or seller) called the lowest guy on the totem poll in the banks customer service dept. and did he say "sure, you can try a short sale!"
