Hey Jim,

i'm not sure if you're question is rhetorical or not. For instance, this blog has something like 20,000 links between all of its articles and subdomain blogs and folders and is a PR5 or 6 (you see PR 3 because we redirected when we decided to move into Internet marketing) and we have never sought out backlinks in any fashion.

We also have over 4,500 pages of completely unique content...so my statement that you quoted is exactly correct. Most will never work to the point that we did and as such resort to article marketing like it's some nectar from the gods when in fact if they busted their hump they could do it on their own sites and retain the enjoyment of the links and PR on their own.

I could tell ya more but then I'd have to charge ya! Well...who knows..maybe we'll do a free report on it.

Bottom line is this...you can create whatever you want and get as many backlinks as you want on your own. Most article marketing links are PR0 or less backlinks from useless directories. There are the big 5 or so which help a bit in the rankings but 99% are crap...unless you're looking to rank for "yellow aardvarks in San Antonio"..then by all means..do all the article marketing you want.

You stated the following:
"You want backlinks? Then you need to bust your hump and work it. "

Just curious if you do not use article marketing to create your backlinks what do you do?

..." about all those traffic stats and stuff they show"..funny thing..they NEVER show you the domain that gets all of that traffic do they?

Before you buy anything, do the research ask pointed questions If it works so well why don't they create a throw away domain to test out their crap on and then if it works then you can clearly see it. Otherwise it's probably, as I say above, Bullshit.

You see we all know how to check backlinks on domains...so there's a reason they don't ever show it. I respect not showing their money site but if it works like they say it does then show me how it works on a dummy site...ain't ever gonna happen

Thanks for the prompt reply. What about all those traffic stats and stuff they show?

Really sucks that there are so many different opinions on what works and what doesn't that its hard to really know when you're doing what works. Especially for newbies like me :(

hey Dustin...we promoted the Mass Article Control product and then we got emails from people and I began following up. As I said in the article...other than the 4 majors I never see anything worthwhile and the links that supposedly get generated are crap links that are meaningless.

That's just my opinion but no one has been able to show me anything to the contrary and as such my feelings stand in regards to the benefits of article marketing.

Here's the deal, I am sure it may work on some far flung niche but I don't believe in the "niche" anymore either. I want to be in a competitive market..why? Because that means people are spending LOTS of money and I just have to work to capture a portion for it to be profitable. We're working on a case study right now so hopefully we'll be able to show you how we do it in big , competitive markets

Hey Barry,

Interesting post about your view of article marketing. What about the Mass Article Control product that just came out? Do you think that is garbage as well? What about Article Blueprint?

Interested in hearing your thoughts...
