Maxine Waters Next Politician To Go Down On Ethics Charges

Just when we were just getting to sink out teeth into Charlie Rangel for being a scumbag, we’re fed up another piece of red meat today as Los Angeles Democrat Maxine Waters is going to have to face the music for bad dealings.

It’s pretty ironic. Not too long ago on eof our readers had sought out Ms. Waters help with the foreclosure mess and we told her then that Waters was a bad apple. Hate to say I told ya so!

Allegations against the L.A. Democrat center on a meeting she arranged with Treasury officials where the main topic of discussion was a bank with ties to the lawmaker’s husband.

In accusing Rep. Maxine Waters (D- Los Angeles) of violating House ethics rules, congressional investigators have focused on a meeting she arranged with Treasury officials that they say centered on the fortunes of a single bank — one with ties to her husband.

Of course it makes sense..just follow the money! Just a few months after the shakedown she arranged, OneUnited Bank received $12Million in taxpayer bailout funds.

I wonder how much she pocketed?

The LA Times Reports that Waters’ husband, Sidney Williams, served on the bank board from 2004 to 2008 and at the time of the Sept. 9, 2008, meeting and was a stockholder in the bank, according to a report from the Office of Congressional Ethics made public Monday.

The report was released by the House Ethics Committee, which on Monday formally brought a case against Waters, one of Los Angeles’ most enduring liberal politicians. The committee won’t make public the charges until it releases its own report when Congress returns from its summer recess in September.

Ever the denying politician, Waters claims innocence and for all we know right now, she may be. You see unlike some liberals, I actually believe in the Constitution so I afford her that benefit.

Waters, in her defense stated that, “The record will clearly show that in advocating on behalf of minority banks, neither my office nor I benefited in any way, engaged in improper action or influenced anyone.”

We’ll surely see. Man it’s going to be a busy fall for Congress. And oh yeah, this is a great opening act for the 2010 elections.
