My name is Audrey Ellison. I was living in Central Florida when young Jessica Lunsford was abducted, raped and murdered by a vile and treacherous sex offender who was living nearby to her.
As a mother of two young boys, my skin crawled as I watched the story unfold on television. Even though we did not live close to where she lived, our community outside of Orlando was so steeped with fear and anger that it became almost paralyzing.
I was afraid to let my boys out of my sight. I was putting a strain on my marriage and my job because the fear of some lurking sex offender may be seeking to prey upon my children.
I went and bought a gun and installed a new alarm on the house but every noise outside erased any comfort I had. I knew that I had to do something about my fear so I started looking up sex offenders in my area.
I literally could not believe how many of these subhumans were living nearby. I went to the police, I wrote letters to the newspapers and I even went on a local television show doing anything I could to bring this matter to light. You see these predators count on living in the shadows.
They revel in their anonymity. People are too busy living their lives to notice the evil that lurks nearby…that is until it’s too late. So what’s a mom to do. Here are the steps I took and I share this information with you so that you can remain vigilant as well.
Am I obsessed…when it comes to the life of my children? Yes, you’re absolutely right I am!
I am going to do my best not to wake up one morning and find Jeffrey and Aaron missing. If something happens to them I wouldn’t be able to live with myself. Could you live with your self if some sex offender in the area got a hold of one of your kids?
I could not even imagine the hell that young Jessica Lunsford went through. I think I would absolutely lose it if something like that would happen to one of my kids.
So here’s what I have been doing and what I suggest that you do:
1. I believe it is imperative that you find out where the sex offenders in your area are. You need to know if there is any imminent danger to your children. Remember, it has been proven. These sexual predators can’t stop themselves. They will continue to look for any opportunity to prey upon a child.
2. So the first line of defense is to know where they are. You can perform free searches in County and State records if you know how but I find it easier to use an online service.
If you do nothing else, make sure you know where these predators are living. You can click here to get a neighborhood search or you can click on the red button on the right.
3. As soon as they were old enough to understand, I gave my children a basic course in defending themselves agains these degenerates.
4. I gave myself a bit of education as to how to be a more protective parent. You can download the guide that I used by putting your name and email address in the form at the top right of this article. It’s been updated somewhat since I first used it. Trust me it’s an eye opening experience to realize how lacking we can be in protecting our children.
5. I bought a gps child locator so that I can track my kids at all times. Some people think this is invasion of the child’s privacy. I say that I can only hope and pray that their concern for a lack of privacy doesn’t cause them to be looking at mugshots some time in the future.
Again, this is what these sexual predators count on. They love the fact that some people and the media work to convince people that protecting their children is somehow wrong.
The GPS child locator that I use is the Amber Alert GPS. My sister sent me a link to a newscast she saw a month or so ago and I knew instantly that I had to have one for each of my boys.
Talk about having some peace of mind. Nothing is foolproof or is a guarantee of safety but the Amber Alert GPS, which is endorsed by the Amber Alert organization, seems to be the closest thing to ensuring my children’s safety from these predators.
Here’s a short video on how it works.

Some say that it’s a bit expensive and my response is usually…”in comparison to what”? For the cost of a couple of pair of sneakers, I can feel quite comfortable that I can protect my kids. I think once you look into it you’ll feel the same. But whatever you do, do something.
The bad guys are out there and they are looking at your children. You have to understand that your children are being watched. Do something about it!
Ask yourself, “Do you I know where the sex offenders are in my area“? If the answer is no, then you may be surprised to find out what kind of danger is nearby.
Wishing you and your children well and please find out where the sex offenders are in your area.
