Derek Jeter Passes Babe Ruth On Yankees All-Time Hit List

Derek Jeter Passes Babe Ruth With 2,874th Hit.

I hate the Yankees…no I loathe the Yankees. As A Boston Red Sox fan, my animosity for the pinstripe wearing Bronx bums goes way back. But I have to give props when props are due. And I am today giving a standig ovation to Derek Jeter.

The guy is a class act and the future Hall of Famer gives his all in every game and is worth of every accolade that comes his way.

Yesterday, Derek Jeter, who has passed milestone after milestone in an illustrious 16 year career added another. He passed Babe Ruth on the all-time Yankees hit list in yesterday’s win against the BoSox.

With a line drive hit in the second inning to give the Bums a 2-0 lead, he bested Ruth on the all-time list.. The Yankees immediately flashed a photograph of Jeter alongside Ruth on the center-field scoreboard.

Jeter had said he did not know about the milestone until he was informed a few days ago that he was approaching Ruth’s career total. I would call BS on most guys who would say they did not know…but for some reason, I believe Jeter.

“Any time your name is alongside or past some of the Yankee greats, then it’s a special moment,” Jeter said. “It’s not like it was a goal of mine, because I wasn’t aware of it, but it feels good once you accomplish it.”

Jeter soon added No. 2,875. With two outs in the fifth and Berkman and Granderson in scoring position, he drove a line-drive double into the right-field gap to put the Red Sox six runs behind.

Congratulations to Derek Jeter.
