State Of Alabama Files Lawsuit Against BP Because Of Oil Spill

The powers that be in the State of Alabama have decided to lay claim to some cash from BP. Why not? It seems that there are going to be a lot of people lining up to get their share of BP money.

Alabama’s AG is filing suit against BP because he says that BP is not delivering on promises that it has made regarding taking care of people who have been harmed by the oil spill in the gulg. They feel that BP is avoiding taking full culpability for their role in the disaster.

Attorney General Troy King filed two lawsuits in federal court in Montgomery late Thursday afternoon on behalf of the state. BP spokesman Justin Saia said the company had not seen the lawsuit and had no comment. At least 300 federal lawsuits have been filed in 12 states against BP and the other three main companies involved in the April 20 explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon drill rig, which triggered the disaster.

One has to wonder, what the outcome of all of these lawsuits will be. Even if BP wants to pay, will there be a BP to sue? Will the compensation fund bankrupt one of the richest companies in the world? Only time will tell.
