We still listen to this legendary icon on a daily basis. His music has withstood the test of time, and we are grateful that he passed through this world, leaving us with amazing songs, lyrics, and his bigger-than-life personality.
His death caught many people by surprise thirty three years ago. He died on August 16, 1977. And the world mourned him, even the die-hard fanatics who swore that he was not even dead. Can you say denial? That’s how much he was revered, people were crying openly for Elvis.

Elvis fans from around the globe gathered at Graceland on Sunday evening to mark the 33rd anniversary of the King’s death. Yesterday is the actual 33rd anniversary of his death in 1977. Since 1978, people have been gathering to commemorate his death.
His music will live on with us, our children, and on and on. Our parents were jammin’ to his tunes in the 50′s and we still are doing now. You can count on one hand the musicians who have withstood that incredible test of time. I wonder how many people have more than just a few of Elvis’s songs on their iPod. Millions, without a doubt.
So, let us take a listen to a few of him many hits, and reflect on what an incredible contribution he made in our American musical history. Hopefully, we will share our love of his music to our children, and so forth. It has the timeless quality that very few will ever live up to. And it’s got a beat that you can dance to!
