Mayor Marco Antonio Leal Garcia Murdered | Victim Of Mexican Drug War
Mayor Marco Antonio Leal Garcia is the second mayor assassinated in two week.
sIt has happened, the mayor of Hidalgo, has been found assassinated by accused drug traffickers. He and his 4 year-old daughter were in the vehicle when it was found by passersbys, in Mexico’s blood soaked drug war.
Marco Antonio Leal Garcia was shot dead by armed men in vehicles on Sunday as he drove through his rural municipality of Hidalgo in Tamaulipas state, the local attorney-general’s office said. His daughter is said to be in stable condition.
The alleged murderers are allegedly a brutal, well-trained group of former elite Mexican army commandos. What does this say about the state of Mexico right now? It is out of control, and there is anarchy ruling, with no way out.
Mexican government officials have said drug gangs are increasingly extorting and kidnapping migrants to raise money because a controversial government clampdown on organized crime has eaten into their other sources of revenues.
Turf wars between Mexico’s seven major drug cartels and government forces have killed at least 28,000 people since Felipe Calderon, the Mexican president, deployed tens of thousands of soldiers to crack down on the illegal trade in December 2006.
Hidalgo, a town of 25,000 people, is located 90km northwest of the state capital, Ciudad Victoria. This small town has morphed into one of the most bloody and dangerous areas in Mexico since the beginning of the year.
Rival cartels are slaughtering anyone who is a threat to their livelihood, and had no qualms over killing the mayor, Antonio Leal. The armed wing, the Zetas, and the Gulf cartel are in a death match and there are no winners here. They are fighting over the smuggling routes into the United States.
This is the second such of an incident to have happened in the span of two weeks. This is the same town where 72 migrant worker’s massacred bodies were discovered by local municipalities. While it was not immediately evident, the local attorney-general’s office has said that it is the same cartel that was responsible for the car bomb explosions last week.

So much carnage and mutilated bodies are gaining attention from around the world. All eyes are beginning to finally turn towards Mexico. How are the cartels getting away with such wholesale assassinations and murders. Who is looking out for the poor, unfortunate Mexican citizens who are being inundated with fear and horrors that defy normal life.
Since when, in our day and age, and such close proximity, are we allowing such madness to continue? Do we not remember Hitler? The fear that preceded him was palpable, yet we shut our eyes. It’s not in our backyard. These people are not our people.
And as for the Mexicans that are slaughtered, tortured, kidnapped on a daily basis, are we not supposed to care? When did this happen to us, as human beings, not just as Americans, who are, without a doubt, the most generous, giving, compassionate country in the entire world. They have brown skin, and we just are not paying attention because of this fact. Look at Somalia, Ethiopia, Haiti, and on and on.
Have we become numb? Look at Pakistan. The flooding there just in the past month has killed hundreds of thousands of people. And we give aid and succor to them, and to whom ever else in the world is suffering. Let us not forget our Southern neighbors. What can we do for them? And why are we waiting so long to come to the aid of Mexico?
Because we do drugs. Now, in Pakistan’s case, it’s poppy seeds they sell. But there are organizations that do help the flood victims. This is not what we are talking about here.
Ok, there it is. Yes, we like our weed, and other narcotics. So..do we continue this War On Drugs..which has no ending in the foreseeable future, or do we legalize drugs, and let the bloodsport stop. It seems rather obvious.
If you are a grown up person, do all the drugs and alcohol you want. It’s your body. We have meth labs here in the United States that churn out poison just so people in the United States can get high, as cocaine and heroin are not grown here.
Far better for them to go ahead and get their high from natural plants, than chemicals that would blow up a house, never mind what it does to a human being’s body.
So..let’s get the farmers who are not allowed to farm their own fields, to grow the stuff we want, and then the massacred, mutilated, and assassinated bodies won’t find themselves on the front pages of the world newspapers. Let the cartels die from insufficient funds, and we will become wealthy again with our own product.
We have to face the truth, that millions of Americans want to get high. For whatever reason, and until we are all cured of addiction, let us stop the killing of innocents in other countries for our desires.
It is also near the border with Nuevo Leon state, where the mayor of another town, Santiago, was found murdered on August 18. Local police allied with a drug gang are suspected in that killing, there seems that there is no safe area to be in, if you live in a border town, or a town that houses a drug-creating area.
