8 Confirmed Killed In Cancun Bar Attack
In one of the most-visited places on the planet, Cancun will be under scrutiny not because of the pristine beaches, the beautiful sunrises, and the great nightlife, but for the drug war. The Zetas drug cartel has hit the sacred untouchable city of Cancun, long-considered a “safe zone”.
Not anymore. Eight people have been found dead after a Molotov Cocktails were tossed into a busy bar in the city of Cancun. How the worlds trekkers to the beautiful and popular site will react is waiting to be seen, as travel warnings for the usually safe area are being put together for tourists.
A popular mecca for Spring Breakers, and millions of tourists, Cancun is now under attack and is no longer safe as it has been. The drug lords Zetas and the Gulf gangs, have been staying away from the popular tourist spots, and visitors have still been coming, Alcupolco, Cabo San Lucas, and many other spots have thus far been untouched, until today.
This will undoubtedly hobble if not completely destroy the tourist industry in this region. Many young people make a pilgrimage to Cancun every spring, however, there have been kidnappings, and now, with today’s grisly discoveries, many parents of the kids will no longer be allowing their college-agers to visit.
Mexican tourism has been on the wane for quite a while, Mexican drug cartels are ruining the tourist trade.
Drug Warlord “LaBarbie” has been arrested yesterday, but that doesn’t give any assurance to travel agents that have to be able to assure their clients that they will be safe and secure.

“The death of eight people is confirmed. Six on site –all women,” prosecutor Francisco Alor Quezada, from the southeastern state of Quintana Roo.
According to witnesses, six men threw the Molotov cocktails into the establishment which had reported two attempts at extortion, allegedly at the hands of the vicious Zetas drug cartel.
Local media reports said the attack happened at around 1am local time on Tuesday. It set off a conflagration that destroyed the cocktail bar, which is in a residential area not usually a tourist hot spot.
The barbaric Zetas, first set up by former paramilitaries in the 1990s, have grown in force since splitting off from the powerful Gulf gang, whom they are now fighting for control of drug trafficking routes.
They are suspected in last week’s massacre of 72 migrants in northeast Mexico and many kidnapping, killing and extortion cases, and seem not to fear the Federales. President Felipe Calderone claims he is fighting the good fight, but he is obviously not winning. Many say due to corruption in from the bottom all the way to the top.
Cancun has seen sporadic attacks and gruesome discoveries of bodies in wells and graves as violence has escalated since President Felipe Calderon deployed tens of thousands of soldiers to take on organized crime gangs in 2006.
More than 28,000 have died in vicious gang related violence nationwide since then.
