East Carolina Hail Mary Touchdown Beats Tulsa

If you’re too young to remember who Harold Carmichael was, let’s suffice it to say he was the Manute Bol of football. He was a huge wide receiver who regularly embarrassed smaller cornerbacks.

Well there just may be a new Harold Carmichael. His name is Justin Jones.

Justin Jones is a man-child. He is 6′ 8″ tall and weighs about 250 pounds on a good day. (personally I think the dude goes 280 easily)

So when you need a hail mary pass at the end of the game, who better to throw it to than your own version of Harold Carmichael. So that’s exactly what East Carolina did.

Trailing 49-45 with no time outs and on 4th down, and over 50 yards away from the endzone…East Carolina looked for the big guy.

East Carolina quarterback, Dominque Davis, took the snap, rolled a bit to his left and heaved the ball towards the endzone.

There to snatch the pigskin from the sky was the red-shirt freshman, Justin Jones.

He jumped like a center at a Tarheel game and took the ball from some seriously out-matched defenders.

By the way, to add a punctuation mark to this story, it was Justin Jones’ first touchdown of his collegiate career.

Now that’s how you announce yourself!
