Can Using Social Media Help You Land A Job? Yep…And Here’s 5 Ways How!
We have seen people getting more and more creative in using social media to find gainful employment. Today, Dan Schawbel, the founder of Millenial Branding penned an article regarding finding a job by using social media.
His article is supported by a recent report by Elance.com that said that 40% of young professionals are using social media to get new jobs. One question that I would have is how are those who are not “young professionals” faring? That being said, here are 5 ways that Dan says you can use social media to get that new job:
1. Leverage Your Social Graph
2. Use Augmented Reality and Job Search Apps
3. Build Your Online Influence
4. Use Multimedia Instead of a Paper Resume
5. Turn Yourself Into an Advertisement
My favorite on the list was using Multimedia instead of a resume. Today’s employers who understand social media understand the idea of multimedia presentations. The one page vanilla resume is so out dated that you have to wonder if you would want to work for a company that didn’t appreciate a multimedia submission from a prospect.
What do you think? Is social media going to change the way people are hired?
