Realtors Please Stop This Now | Maybe The Worst Example Of Social Media In Real Estate

That’s a long title but it’s extremely fitting. I normally don’t call people out but when you see things this bad, you sometimes are left with no choice.

Now before anyone says I’m being a bit harsh, understand that I am merely talking about the public profile of an Internet user who openly wants us to see what he is publishing. I’m not talking about anyone’s personal life. This video and article is meant to solely serve as a critique of a promoted social media profile and obviously, is just one man’s opinion.

bad social media by realtor

But after watching this, I’m sure you might agree. I’m also open to hearing what you have to say. So please feel free to leave a comment if you’d like to.

So let’s get to the video.

Story continues below...

I received a notification that some local realtor was following me on Twitter and as the hustling social media agency owner that I am I thought it might be prudent to check the guy out,

see what kind of presence he had and then see if he might be a prospect that I would like to offer my services to…that being because realtors can be really good clients…if they actually run a business and have the money to pay for services.

yeah..I know…trust me, I’m not looking to make a living off of that niche but hey you never know…

anyway, here’s the realtor…a strapping fellow named Shai Mashiach…I hope I am pronouncing that right. shai, or Shay as it may be works for a local Prudential office here and works a pretty affluent target area here in South Florida.

After a bit of searching, I found this landing page that has his vitals. Not great, but not bad…but unfortunately this is the highlight of this realtor’s social media trail. It’s all down hill from here folks…let’s check some things out and I’ll tell you why.

Before I start let me just first say that Shai, will never be found, except by people he knows and perhaps his family. You see unless people already know him they won’t be searching for him in Google. And I’m pretty sure he isn’t found in the top 10 for the top term for Fort Lauderdale real estate.

I could be wrong, but let me check…so let’s type in Fort Lauderdale real estate….nope..he’s not there…he’s not even on page 2 or 3…so no luck there.

So now let’s look at his website where he is telling people to go to…

Yikes…what the fuck is this?

But this video started with a Twitter notification so let’s see what that looks like…

Realtors…this is not social media…this is spam. This guy is taking the effort to establish multiple profiles on twitter to spam listings.

If he took the same effort to actually try and create a good social media footprint he might be making some headway.

I realize that the real estate market is in the toilet right now but there are some realtors out there crushing it and using social media correctly.

Unfortunately there are probably 10x more screwing things up pretty bad.

I’ll give Shai credit, at least he tried…it’s horrible but he took a swing at bat. It’s funny but he’s even doing more than most realtors out there.

Social media isn’t a fad. as you know it’s a complete shift in the way business is being marketed and transacted.

We’ve been telling Realtors for years what was coming and some listened but most didn’t and now those that didn’t are WAY behind the herd.

But it’s not too late. Each day that passes puts you further behind your competition. Fortunately a lot of your competition looks like old Shai here and with a decent amount of effort you can best your competition.

So start today and learn how social media can help you increase your market share and your bottom line…..and someone please call the broker at Prudential and tell them to put a muzzle on Shai…he’s really making them look really bad…I mean really…really..bad…
