Real Estate Radio USA Episode 116
May 8, 2008
On today’s show we discussed a new survey from Trulia and Harris Interactive, news from the NAR, a big announcement from Todd Carpenter regarding RE Blog World, and more blog talk from Mary McKnight at RSSPieces.com. All of this and more on today’s episode of Real Estate Radio USA.
We opened the show with a survey from Trulia.com performed by Harris Interactive. The survey asks consumers about their attitudes toward purchasing foreclosed homes. Also in real estate news today, the NAR released the latest from their pending sales index. The news was not good, but you would not know that if you listened to the comments by everyone’s favorite economist, Lawrence Yun.
Todd Carpenter from Mariah.com joined us today to announce that he is launching RE Blogworld. RE Blogworld is a three day conference in Las Vegas and is part of the largest new media convention and trade show in the world. Todd has promised to keep us updated on the presenters and schedule of this exciting event.
We were also joined on the program today by our favorite blogging expert, Mary McKnight from RSSPieces.com. Mary discussed with us how much time you should spend on your blogging, the effects of duplicate content and how not to get penalized, and an explanation of breakout results and how to achieve them.

Hi Barry,
How are you doing… i miss you guys of course.
Although I’m NOT a blogging expert I want to touch a subject that has been brought up in your show for the past few days - ETHICS.
My view, which does not rely on religious faith or even an original idea ,but on common sense is that bidding ethical principles is possible when we take as our starting point the observation that we all desire the same thing, so maybe one of the things which determines if an act is ethical or not is its effect on others. An act that harm others is potentially an unethical act.
I say potentially because there are other factors to consider: the intent and the nature of the act itself. We can all think of acts we have done that have upset others, even if we had no intention to do so. And its not hard to think of acts that may appear aggressive and likely to cause hurt but that can contribute to one’s benefit in the long run. As a mother i would say that disciplining children falls in that category.
On the other hand, the fact that our actions MAY appear gentle does not mean that they are positive or ETHICAL if our intentions are selfish.
What’s wrong with society… How come so many talk about evolution and yet we need to have rules and laws just to keep us from harming each other.
Eric was right on his statements. We don’t need to have a paper with words on it to let us know if what we are doing is right or wrong.
We complain about our government but we can’t take responsabilities for our own actions. Yes there is freedom of speach, but doesn’t your right ends where my begins?
Strikes me the fact that a negative comment or ad will attract that many more people. But what’s even worse is that we might feel pressured to act the same way just to keep up with what is called these days “normal”.
