On today’s episode we talked about the NAR and DOJ lawsuit settlement, the latest Case/Shiller Index numbers, and the latest Barry C blog post about racism on the Active Rain social network. Also today we spoke with best-selling author of “The E-Myth: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t work and What to Do About It”, Michael Gerber. All of this and more on today’s episode of Real Estate Radio USA.We started the show today with the news that the National Association of Realtors and the Department of Justice settled the lawsuit that began in September 2005. You can find all of the details in this article and read the NAR press release here.

We discussed, in detail, the situation that has been going on over at Active Rain. Barry C wrote a blog post about it titled, “Blacks Are Like Lemmings In General Elections” | Does Racism Have A Home On Active Rain?. We even brought on Active Rain community evangelist, Bob Stewart to talk about the AR response and what kind of feedback he has been getting.

We interviewed best-selling author of “The E-Myth: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t work and What to Do About It”, Michael Gerber. Michael spoke with us about his proven system to develop your business by becoming an entrepreneur, the skills you need to develop, and time proven marketing techniques to get ahead.

We closed the show today with the latest Case/Shiller Index numbers that don’t look too good for sellers, but signal an excellent opportunity for buyers.

On the DOJ/NAR settlement, the outcome of this judgment is exactly what should have come out of this debate, investigation, or whatever you want to call it. And that is that, we live in a free enterprise system, and any attempt to prohibit free enterprise goes against everything that this country is built on, and by the way is illegal. This is why we have a $1.00 menu and low prices at the large retailers. And also why we have near $4.00 a gallon gas and $4.00 lattes. Free enterprise creates the market for competition. Some competitors choose to compete on pricing, others on luxury, and others on convenience.

This “final judgment” should be viewed as the parent telling the kids to play fairly and if you don’t, you go in “time out”. The sad part is that it took the Department of Justice to tell the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS that they need to play fair and if not, there will consequences. Which I thought, playing fair was part of our CODE OF ETHICS. um, did someone not read our Code of Ethics. I guess if you wrote the code, you don’t have to obey the code.
