This video by the folks from Socialnomics is going to make you laugh heartily if you are pitching clients for a social media agency. If you think our Country is screwed up politically with so many clinging to the way things used to be, then you haven’t sat with enough chief marketing officers.
The CMO animal of yesteryear is becoming extinct. Many who have been in the position for any length of time are dinosaurs. But for one reason or another, have been put in charge of the marketing direction of many brands. These are the same people who put credence in Nielsen ratings.
In this video, I found particular humor when they begin talking about print advertising…”what’s print?”
What a line that was. When I was making a recent pitch, the marketing director was telling me that the “Schmoo” was looking to spend a boatload on print advertising and was trying to see if they could get the same return with social media.
