Television Ratings Being Helped By Social Media [Video]

Go ahead and admit it. You’re now watching television with a laptop or iPad close by. It’s the evolution of entertainment and the advent of social television.

For those of us with Social Media ADD, television has become wholly interactive. Mind you not yet on our actual screens, but by our mobile devices and laptops.

Last night I was watching yet another sad display of football talent by my beloved Notre Dame who were insisting on finding a way to lose against the Michigan Wolverines. ( they eventually succeeded in doing so)

As I was watching, I found myself Tweeting and Facebooking and soon the conversation actually became part of the game.

While there were 114,000 people at the actual game, there were millions of us watching from home and feeling every bit a part of the game.

In the video above, Gary Vaynerchuk expounds upon this phenomenon that we are seeing unfolding on television. And it’s probably going to save television…if not spell the doom of advertisers reliance upon Nielsen ratings.
